Eyelash Extensions Aftercare

Avoid wetting your lashes and excessive sweating (exercise) for at least 24hrs after application (full sets & refills). Also avoid steam rooms, saunas and swimming for 48hrs and keep them to a minimum after 48hrs.

Many people are afraid to clean their lashes because they worry about losing their eyelash extensions. Avoiding your lashes when cleansing your face may cause protein, makeup and cell build up at the base of the lashes. This build up can restrict new lash growth and cause your lashes to clump together and impact the health of your natural lashes. It is VERY IMPORTANT to clean your lashes with an eyelash extensions cleanser. (Available in salon)

Do not wear any type of mascara on volume or hybrid lashes, as the mascara will clump the lash fans together and you will not be able to separate them.

A water-based mascara can be worn with classic, double and cashmere lashes, but is not recommended. If you choose to wear mascara make sure it is oil free and made specifically for eyelash extensions, as traditional mascara contains oil and will break down the adhesive. Never wear waterproof mascara.
(Mascara and eyeliners are available in salon)

Avoid oil based makeup remover, cleansers, eye creams and facial moisturisers, as excessive oil will weaken the eyelash extensions bond.
I recommend the brand ‘simply’ no oil makeup remover.
Always make sure to remove ALL eye make up and foundation around the eye area before your appointment, as this will cut into your lash time if it needs to be removed at the time of your appointment.

When showering, avoid water hitting the eyes directly. After showering or washing your face, try blow-drying your lashes in an upward direction on a cool setting. You can then use a lash brush to brush and flick the lashes into shape.

Do not rub your eyelash extensions when you wash your face, always pat dry.

Do not tint, perm or use an eyelash curler on the extensions, as this will cause damage.

Never pull out your extensions, as it will pull out your natural lash. Never play with, rub or pick at the extensions.

NEVER wear clump or stick on fake lashes over your eyelash extensions. The glue from the stick on lashes is extremely hard to remove and will take up most of your lash appointment for me to try and remove the excess glue which gets stuck in between the lashes.
The stick on glue residue left behind will also leave a barrier on the natural lash, making the new eyelash extensions harder to stick on and not last as long.
If you wear stick on lashes over your extensions make sure to give them a good scrub for a few days before your appointment.

Avoid using hair spray and dry shampoo for at least 3 days prior to your appointment. The residue from these products will sit on your natural lashes causing a barrier between the natural lash and the extensions, making them not last as long.

Lash Shedding

The average person has between 90 - 120 natural lashes per upper eye lid.
The aim is to apply an extension on all possible lashes during your full set or refill appointment.
Each eye will naturally shed 2 - 5 lashes per day, so if you break it down averaging 3 lashes per day it will look like this.

In 1 week you can lose up to 21 lashes
In 2 weeks you can lose up to 42 lashes
In 3 weeks you can lose up to 63 lashes
